Don't know how to update the info listed for this show, but I was the taper for this show. Taping section was actually in front of the board and was first row on the raised seating off the floor area which was not extremely close, so decided to use hyper cardiods, but the sound pressure was surprisingly high based on my proximity, so made the switch to cardiods during the set break. Both sound great, but I think second set with cardiods sounds better.

This is another one of the somewhat overlooked gems on the Archive with the Phil collection, featuring Weir and Kreutzman during set one. During the first few songs the sound quality is on par with the next best posting here, and then begins improving gradually, 'till you're on basically "solid ground" relatively deep and wide in the soundfield, for an AUD.
The Franklin's Tower here is a keeper. So many times over the years, Phil's band has rendered it in more of that "rockin' with wings, full-speed ahead forward groove", and that's been great-- but THIS, dear friends-- this one will take you way back...got that loopy, lilting, twirling, dance-your-days-away bliss...I like to think that Weir and Kreutzman's presence had a thing or two to do with that...

After the recent Deadheads for Obama concert, I decided to go back and find any Phil and Bobby pairings of interest and this is one show with great energy from start to finish with lots of spacey jams and fine vocal workouts from all. The recording is of great quality also! Many thanks to the taper. Definitely a show deserving of downloading despite it's apparently being passed over!
